Habitat ReStore Inspiration
Friday, March 22, 2013Do you know about the greatest place on earth? Well, maybe not the greatest, but it's up there. The Habitat for Humanity ReStore is my go-to place for home improvement supplies and even furniture. Before I go to Home Depot, Rona, or Lowe's, I always stop by the Restore first to see if I can get what I'm looking for. My purchase helps support an amazing charity and it's usually a whole lot cheaper! There are lots and lots of Restores across Canada - find your local store here.
Sometimes I just go over to my local store and browse around for an hour looking for inspiration and cool ideas. Here's what inspired me today.
This industrial fan was huge! Probably 8 or 9 feet tall. It's a steal at $30 and would look awesome in an industrial loft space. Sort of like this photo below.

This little bookshelf was $5 and could easily be converted into side table for your bed, or a cute cocktail/bar/coffee cart (also for bedside your bed...ha). Give it a coat of paint and add some wheels and you could make it look something like this.
Need an allen key? They have a few!
I loved this dresser/credenza/side board. It was $110 and I probably would have bought it and refinished it - if it had fit in my car. Time to buy an SUV! I would paint this beauty and add some new hardware to create something like this one by Mr. Goodwill Hunting on the Nate Berkus Show.
Finally, the only purchase I actually made today was a Closetmaid wire shelf and hardware. The restore sells all the brackets and nubs that you need to hang the shelves. I actually convinced Tom to help me hang the shelf in the laundry room tonight, so I'll post about that at a later date.
I'll leave you with a photo of my dream laundry room....it even has a dog washing station!

I had to laugh at the last photo entitled "Traditional Laundry Room". NOT.
